"Karibu" is Swahili for "Welcome"!

After 2 full travel days, we arrived into Nairobi airport and were literally met on the jetway by our transfer agent who whisked us out a side door and into a waiting vehicle for our private charter transfer from Kenya into Tanzania.

Clearing customs, we were then taken to our waiting aircraft where we were met by our private guide  JD Dunn who will accompany us throughout our journey and our two pilots. Our adventure has begun!

After an approximate 2 hour flight in a beautiful Pilates PC - 12 aircraft , we made it to Kilimanjaro airport, for a quick transfer to Lake Manyara airstrip.

Our first night was spent at Acacia Coffee Lodge located about an hours drive from the Ngorongoro Crater. Acacia Coffee Lodge is in a lovely setting and is a working coffee farm that brews the best coffee I have ever tasted. It is a mid-priced lodge with wonderful lovely staff who greet you with hugs and warm smiles. Massage is available there in your rooms, and is a great idea after the long journey. The rooms are clean and comfortable and there is also a pool, which we promptly jumped into as soon as we unpacked.

This valley is lush and fertile and as you drive through the villages, you will experience life as it exists in this part of the world.

As the sun sets here, you hear birds calling, and the spirit of Africa decends into your soul. Happy to be here at last, we sink into our comfortable beds.
