A visit to Addis is interesting for a day trip (or as a layover stop en route to other destinations in Africa) but if you have time, you should try to get to see the ancient churches in the mountainous areas near Lalibella in the Amhara of about a 3 hour drive away. We will definitely be back to visit this area on a future trip!
We visited the museum of Ethinography, which contained history of Ethiopia, National treasures and history of the ruling leaders. The National Museum of Ethiopia also contains the bones of Lucy, the worlds oldest remains of humankind.
Trinity Cathedral is also an interesting stop on the tour, the main cathedral in the city, built in the 1950’s.
Recommend a stop at an Ethiopian coffee shop for some of the best coffee you will ever come across. Then you are taken to an authentic Ethiopian restaurant for folk dancing and authentic cuisine.
Our guide was friendly and we would highly recommend a visit to this city and gave us great descriptions of this interesting city.
